Effective date: September 24, 2026
These terms apply to lessons, lesson packages, and gift certificates purchased from NorCal Hang Gliding.
Student eligibility and instruction format
Students must be 18 years of age or older and able to run for short distances while carrying approximately 50 pounds. NorCal Hang Gliding provides solo hang gliding instruction only and does not offer tandem flying.
USHPA membership
For a student’s first lesson, NorCal Hang Gliding issues a 10-day Temporary/Affiliate membership with the United States Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association (USHPA). This temporary membership includes USHPA third-party liability insurance for instructional flying during that membership period.
A student returning after the 10-day membership expires must purchase a current USHPA 60-day Student Membership or annual membership to continue training toward a pilot rating. A current 60-day or annual membership also unlocks full My NorCal access, including Ground School, Test Prep, and posting in the Flight Deck.
Scheduling, weather, and expiration
Hang gliding instruction depends on safe weather, site conditions, instructor availability, and suitable training progression. A scheduled lesson may need to be postponed or rescheduled. Purchased lessons and lesson packages do not expire.
Refund policy
Lesson, package, and gift-certificate purchases are non-refundable. If weather, site conditions, or scheduling prevents training on the selected date, the lesson may be rescheduled and remains available for future use.
Gift certificates
The purchaser of a gift certificate acknowledges that the recipient must satisfy the student eligibility and USHPA membership requirements before participating. Gift certificates do not expire and are non-refundable.
Acceptance
Checking the Lesson Purchase Terms box and submitting payment confirms acceptance of the version displayed at checkout. The accepted version, time of acceptance, and exact acceptance statement are retained with the order and included in the emailed receipt.
